Windsor, CO – Vestas Wind Systems is building 120 wind blades for the Copenhagen Wind Project in upstate New York. Each blade is over 144 feet long and will be shipped by rail. The Great Western Railroad of Colorado will be the originating railroad carrier of the blades which will then move by Class I railroad to the east coast. The nacelles, the gearbox/drive train, are being assembled in Brighton, CO while the towers are being assembled at Vestas’ facility in Pueblo, CO. The project consists of 40 wind turbines that will generate 80 megawatts of energy which enough energy to support roughly 80,000 homes.
